Glass Cannon
written for The Cortona Sessions for New Music
premiered June 24, 2023 - Hotel Oasi Neumann (Cortona, Italy)
Glass Cannon is an open-instrumentation work that explores the delicate balance between fragility and power. The title represents the juxtaposition of vulnerability and strength, evoking imagery of a weapon that possesses immense destructive potential but is equally susceptible to shattering. Similarly, a person hiding their identity may be operating from a position of power or influence, wielding knowledge, skills, or secrets that can have a significant impact on others. However, like glass, their armor is delicate. Handle with care.
